Just a little update for anyone that was interested. I did go ahead and space out the entire accesory bracket from the block and the pulley from the crank hub. Ended up using 4 flat washers on each bolt and so far it has worked flawlessly. I've only driven the car for about 100 mi. so far but it seems to be doing fine. I am however constantly checking the bolts on the pulley/balancer assembly to make sure they stay tight each day. Hope this might work for someone else too.

I had a buddy that put tall valve covers on his and he had a notch cut out of it and welded back together. Worked perfect.

Wouldn't you have to worry about power steering etc.?

Power steering pump is fixed to the main bracket by 2 bolts as well as the tensioner. Thats what he did, he spaced out the bracket and probably removed the compressor rear bracket and maybe alternater supports.

Yea, I don't have the alternator rear brackets there anymore and I have a/c delete also.
