valve cover clearance

is there something I need to trim off the inside of the valve covers to make them clear the new rr's? i wouldn't think the 1.6's would have clearance issues, but the covers don't seem to want to go on and I can't tell what's holding them? any ideas? I would take pictures, but you wouldn't be able to see anything.

Re: valve cover clearance

I guess the ears you are talking about are the things that seem to be welded to each side and to the bolt posts? I guess i'll get my dremel out tomorrow and see

Re: valve cover clearance

Below is a good write up--worked great for me. Just take your time and double/triple check to make sure none of the rockers are hitting before starting her up.... You can check by using some white assembly lube on the rockers, tighten the cover down, turn the crank (by hand or starter) and pull the cover to check for any greese spots...

Re: valve cover clearance

It's always better to bend the supports rather than cut them off completely. That way the structural integrity of the valve cover is not altered.

Off the subject....
Chevycobb, your video makes me want a GMMG even worse than I already do! Your car sounds awesome! I guess I'm gonna have to take the plunge .
