I have a 94 camaro and I see these valve cover breather for camaros...where are they located?

 

I found one at Autozone once....

Correct. Except the piece you're speaking of on the passenger side valve cover is the CCV valve. The PCV is on the driver's side of the intake.

Well there is reverse flow cooling design - which helps a little with running higher compression ratios on pump gas and preventing detonation since it keeps head temps down more.

Also the advantage back in 1992 was the ignition system. Yes, the opti was an advantage...sorta.

Other than that? No, not really.

 

If you were going to use a breather I guess you could put it in either spot. I imagine it would do the same job. However, I would like to maintain my filler neck, so I'd put it in the place of the CCV. All the CCV is is a plastic elbow with a hose to the throttle body in order to suck the ventilated gases in. I don't really see a benefit for switching from the CCV to a breather, besides aesthetics, but I don't see it hurting anything.

 

The piece in the rear of the passenger side valve cover with the hose going to the TB is wear the crankcase draws its fresh air for the PCV valve to suck out the fumes. It draws air through the engine air cleaner to get clean air. The drawback is at WOT the hose lets oil,from the vacuum of all the in rushing air, get sucked into the intake. A way to stop it is to get a small in line fuel filter and plug it into the line and let it lay,with the wires, on the intake/valve cover area or get a K&N valve cover breather which will probably stay wet with oil and make a mess if you have any blow by. Then get a rubber vacuum cap and put on the TB
connection.
The PCV valve is in the intake on the drivers side about the middle plugged into a hose and stuck into a rubber boot in the intake.

 

You could always use a screw in type breather that replaces the oil fill cap. I use one on my blown car. $17 bucks + shipping & handling from Summit. Just look at the K&N section.

 

Do a search about breathers. Injuneer has posted good explanations many times about it (he is probably tired of typing it out). In a nutshell, it really does nothing for you and it possibly harmful if you do not disconnect the complete PCV system. Breathers on a stock engine is pretty pointless.

 

After reading Freds explanation I took mine off and put the oil fill cap back on.
I installed a filter breather in the valve cover to help with any oil into the TB problems.
I orginally thought it didn,t make a difference as far as how the car ran but after some time I think the car runs better but it could just be me.
