Valve Adj. question?
Valve Adj. question?
Ok so I was going to do a valve adjustment on my 95 Lt1, the valves were tickin a little too much and figured it could use one anyway whether it helps with the sound or not! what is an easy way to find TDC for cylinder 1 nd 6 (with out using the arrow on the balancer) ? mabe a straw into cylinder 1 until its at the top(TDC for #1?) (and 360degree of the crank to find TDC #6)?
Forget trying to find TDC since you don't know the correct orientation of the balancer hub in regards to TDC.

I personally find it easier using the second method on the above site, while using the animated cam timing pic just below to make sure I am on the right valves, but that would mean you have to take the opti off..

I prefer with the engine running and warm. There are several way mentioned on Shoebox's website. I need a fan because it get's hot in the garage over the engine... especially under the cowl. But I feel that warm is the most realistic adjustment.
Just tear a few pieces of cardboard to catch any oil that may squirt from the rockers. With the engine running, no need to find TDC on #1.
