vacuum system effecting performance?

How much does the engine and PCM depend on the vacuum system?
I know the FPR uses vacuum and there's some sensors, but what are some signs of a leak, and what's the best way of going about finding leaks?
I remember someone mentioning carb cleaner??

Thanks in advance.

you can hook a vac gauge to the manifold and look for abou 19 inches of vacuum..

you can spray carb cleaner and listen for an RPM change.

you can look at MAP voltage and look for a reading of over 2 volts..

you can also watch your 02 readigs and use propane around to watch for the chage..
