Vacuum line from AIR/Smog pump
Vacuum line from AIR/Smog pump
Got a weird question for you guys. I removed my AIR/Smog pump yesterday and plugged off the exhaust manifolds, blocked the stock 5/8" intake port and cut out the crossover pipe. There was a small little vacuum line that goes to what looks like the bleed valve harness in the diagram listed below. The problem is the bleed valve harness says its only on 96-97 cars. Mine is a 94 z28. On my car there is a wiring harness connected to the the bleed valve and I'm guessing it is monitoring something. I just put a vacuum cap on the port where the vacuum line from the smog pump connected. Anyone ever seen this? The car doesn't seem to be running any worse but I want to know if I did the correct thing or should I just take this bleed valve out?

Re: Vacuum line from AIR/Smog pump
The AIR system recall was applicable only to the 95-97 cars. I know you indicate you have the stock engine with 210,000 miles on it. Is there any possibility that the engine was swapped with a later engine at some point? There is no vacuum line or bleed valve on a stock 94 LT1.
You might want to check the VIN on the engine to see if it matches the chassis VIN:

Re: Vacuum line from AIR/Smog pump
Thanks, I'll do that. As far as I know the engine is original. I am the third owner and the previous owner owned it since 1995. He told me he never did anything except normal maintenance and drove it. He did tell me his parents had the car for awhile while he was away so maybe they had the engine swapped and never told him. I'll get with him tomorrow and find out. As alway I appreciate the quick response Injuneer, I think I'm the only one that ever posts on here besides you lol.
