For added protection of the Opti what does everyone think about putting a strip of RTV across the top of the opti. Any downsides to this?? too much heat trapped in the opti or anything by doing this?

Also for those who've had that corrosion on the eletrical plug that hooks to the opti. What about putting rtv on the wires that insert into the plug too keep water from seeping past the wires and down inside where the connectors touch the opti pins.

Also wrap a piece of electrical tape around where the plug connects to the opti.

What do u think of these ideas and has anyone done this.

 

I put a strip of RTV around the entire opti where it comes apart. Been fine soo far. It wouldnt keep in any heat, cause the head escapes from the vents anyways(well mine is vented). RTV around it will never hurt. Actaully, I had a coolant hose leaking on the opti for like 2 days, and it hasnt shown any signs of failure at all.
