Using 96 Opti on a 95...

I just picked up a 96 LT1 for my 95 T/A and I have heard that the opti's might be a lil' different in 96. I also heard the crank hub is different. Will I have any problems installing this motor in my T/A. As of right now I am transfering the heads and cam from my current engine to this new one but I do not have an Opti and was planning on using the one that came with the junk yard 96 lt1. Thanks, Brad

Use your 1995 timing cover, crank hub and knock sensor.

Shoebox, you are awesome. I am about to read your heads and cam swap article because as of right now I dont know exactly how to put my coyees timing chain on or set valve lash.

In 1996 OBDII included a crank position sensor. This sensor is mounted in the timing chain cover and requires a reluctor "gear" to be added to the crank snout. The crank hub was shortened to allow room for the reluctor gear.
