Doesn't that sort of take care of the excess horsepower problem?

If you run it too long without oil pressure it does.

Not from to much HP. It is caused by having the wrong oil drive gear metal on your cam. Difference in metal hardness will cause it to wear out. Usually a problem with billet cams.

Only if the wrong gear is on the cam.

I don't think it has anything to do with horsepower.

Well it turns out the -8 is just a standard street roller. Im hoping it was just because of how old it was. Anyone know if this composite gear will fit our cars?

No, it doesn't fit directly. I thought about doing this but, as I recall the LT1 drive gear shaft is something like 0.476" OD and the CC gear is only available in either 0.491' or 0.500" ID. You would have to have a bushing made and drill it for the roll pin.

bronze gears only last a couple miles max. I would measure the shaft diameter but I believe it is .427? There are gears that fit, but you will have to look for them.
