USED SLP install (with primary already welded)

someone mentioned to me the other day that one of the primary tubes on SLP shorties comes unattached and you weld it on later, and this is for install purposes. Has anyone had to install them with this primary tube already welded? (mine are done already since I got them used). is it much more of a pain to do this, and will I need to jack the motor up?

Thanks!

Most likely no, when I installed my shorties on the 97z the header was just one piece and it went it fine with a little finesse. You might need disconnect the steering linkage on the drivers side though.

If these are the SLP headers for a 95 car, which i'm assuming they are, that is how they come. Mine came in one peice. They are not like the macs and hookers.

AS&M & RKSport headers come with 1 primary you have to weld (not SLP). Even if you had the primary on these already welded, the only thing you would have to do is unbolt the steering shaft to install.

You will need to jack the motor up on the driver's side to get it in. My friend did his set of SLP single cat's conversion on his 97 about a week before i did mine and he had to jack the motor up. He helped me on mine and when it came to the drivers side i tried getting my header in for about an hour and a half. I tried everything going in from the top and the bottom and taking the valve cover off. I tried everything i could to avoid jacking up the motor but all i did was waste my time. In the end i just jacked up the motor and it went right in. I wouldn't waste my time on it just jack up the motor.

Take your oil filter out to put in the drivers side. I did the drivers side and I sort of had to hit it to get it in, but it went in without problems.

Z95m6: Maybe your buddy has sagging motor mounts and needs new ones.
