sounds crazy, i know

and you gotta use the DeepCreep in the throttle body and change out the oil in 200 miles.

i wouldn't do any high rpm runs during that time either
Ok what I did is poured 3/4s of the can into the EVAP hole, then poured the rest in quickly to stall it out. I let it sit for about 15 minutes, during that time I used the deep creep on the TB/intake. I then started it up and revved it for a while until the white smoke pretty much stopped coming out. Then I took it for a hard drive to the gas station, where I put about 8 gallons in (probable 10-11 overall in the tank now). I added the entire 2nd can to the gas. Took it out for some more hard driving after that.

The oil that was in the car was less than 2k old. I changed it out today and it made no difference.

You say don't do any high rpm runs during that time, but everyone else says to. What gives?

i just did my seafoam today and im very pleased... I have 82000 miles and the seafoam cleared up the idle and now its smooth and starts right up and pulls all rpm's, i had some prior hesitation.. I dont have a ticking noise but then again I only put one whole can in the brake booster line on the TB under the return line from the valve cover.. I dont see how some carb cleaner type stuff would hurt your car. I would recommend sea foam to everyone!!!

well if you did the rag test you could check to see if its an exhaust leak.
if its not they u can cross exhaust leak off the "things to check" list

i feel your pain, that really sucks that shes makin ticking.
anyone think the injectors could be ticking?

when exactly are you hearing the tick sound? are you at idle, or are you driving? under load?

Its a foam made from evaporated salt water from the western pacific ocean where the water is pure salt water..

Its a type of like carb cleaner, it a fuel injector cleaner/carb cleaner and a thousand other things in one, its put in through the brake booster line on the TB and it cleans the carbon out of the motor.. Makes it run better.. Look at the website he posted.

I havent tried the rag thing yet. It doesn't tick at idle. It is only under load, above 2300 rpm or so. The ticking increases with engine speed as well.

Those are still symptoms of an exhaust manifold leak....increases with engine speed and gets louder too. If that's what it is then it will also get louder over time.

Again...I can't say for certain that's what it is, but I wouldn't be surprised. It's quite common for these cars.....I've actually had two. One before header isntall and one 8 months after.

Now that I remember...the first one was not long after I used Seafoam the first time.

If you drive it hard after seafoam I can get its an exhaust leak. On lt1's you do one thing, and then something else unrelated breaks.

Used Seafoam this spring, then changed oil (mobie 1). Now that I think about it I got the ticking not too long after that. With all that is said here about the ticking is normal on the LT1, didn't think too much about it. I do have an exhaust leak on the pass. side header/Y pipe union. Getting a Hooker cat back put on in a couple months, so hopefiully the shop can look at my header bolts/gaskets and all other exhaust connections without raping me. Plan on doing the Seafoam and oil change every spring right out of storage

just something to mention...... if it was an exhaust manifold leak... then you would DEF. notice when using seafoam!!!! all the exhaust will find its way out the leaks before it goes through the entire exhaust system! you would notice all the white smoke coming from the engine bay rather than the back of the car!
