Used cc306 cam, get it or not?!
My buddy has a used for 1500 miles comp cams 306 cam. The bearings all look perfect on it, and he didnt really get on it too much ( actually he took it out because he said he thought it was too strong for daily driving, lol ). Should I invest in it for about 1/2 the price of a new one or just get a new one?! Also....how is the vacuum with these cams, will I have problems with my brakes , ect? I didnt get a chance to ask what he thought since I just thought of that question, thanks--
Re: Used cc306 cam, get it or not?!
Im buying one that has 9k miles on it. If an old guy tells you that you are crazy for buying a used cam, its just because he thinks it is a flat tappet cam. Roller cams last much longer, you should be just fine with it only having 1500 miles on it. I couldn't afford anything more. Vacum wont be great but it should be enough for daily driving.

Buy it used, it will be much cheaper and it will be the same as buying new. I don't think brakes are all that bad with the cam. I pull around 11" of vaccuum with it.

My cc306 with 650rpm idle, I can push the clutch in, drop to idle and still have plenty of braking power.
Go for it. Mine was used. All my stuff was used except my springs/push rods.
