Used Cam issues

I need a little feedback on a concern i have. I may buy a cam that has been in a car for about half its life. It is a lt4 cam and he is offering it for a very resonable price. I just want to know if putting HIS cam in MY car will cause any kind of problems as far as the way it was worn in his car and the way my car may wear things down. Let me know

Re: Used Cam issues

If the engine was take care of with regular oil changes, then that cam should be OK. Only thing if it's an LT4 and not a hotcam it's not worth changing in terms of performance gain.

Re: Used Cam issues

He is thinking about buying the cam from me. I had a bad miss. Replaced all of my electrical stuff except ICM. Checked my fuel system, and everything was fine. I pulled a valve cover and I had broken a valve spring on #8. Nothing came off in the motor. I pulled the broken piece out while the heads were still on. I dropped the motor out to inspect and replace the bearings. I am going with the 224/236 cam. Nothing fell throught the motor. The machine shop gave me my block, crank and rods back yesterday. They couldn't believe how good of shape the motor was in especially for 107K miles. There were no ridges in the cylinders either. I have had the Hot cam in it for about 60,000 miles. It looks in great shape, no abnormal wear on it. Acually it looks like there isn't any wear to it. Yes I change the oil every 3000 miles. The lifters are in awesome shape, lifer valley was spotless. Everything was nice and clean when I tore apart the bottom end. Redchevcam, I will take some pictures of the cam.
