oh jeez i had the same problem last year and they found that when the harmonic balancer slipped on its ring it bent the crank snout.
the dealer had to replace the the whole engine cause they didnt want to rebuild the motor.
when the crank bent it caused the reluctor wheel to contact the sensor.

check the sensor and see if it has a rub mark on it to be sure.

if it isnt contacting the sensor then it will more than likely be a worn timing set.

the dealer had my car for 2 months before figuring out the problem.
they replaced the sensor, pcm, timing chain, and opti before they found that the crank was bent.
luckly i bought the extended warranty cuase it cost 12 grand for them to do this.
i tried to talk em into givin me the 12 grand and i would fix it my self with aftermarket stuff
but they just gave me a funny look and replaced the motor.
btw mine is a 97 z28 six speed camaro

Did you ever check the leads like I suggested in the old thread?

http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...threadid=70609

I doubt your problem is related to that other guy's story.
