URGENT!!! TH400 flexplate question

For those of you running a TH400, what flexplate are you using and where did you buy it? My engine machinist needs this ASAP so he can balance the assembly. Links would be EXTREMELY helpful.

Thanks in advance,
Bret

Bret
Motorsports of KC has an externally balanced SFI 168 tooth flexplate sitting on the shelf.
I think they might be able to get a nuetral balance one but you would have to call and ask.

If your motor is being internally balanced, you don't really need the flexplate as it is neutral balanced. Some people do like to check this, though I never do.

I run a B & M flexplate. Its SFI approved and works great. Bought it from Summit. I think it was about 89.99 or so.

What you need is no different than any other neutral balanced 153-tooth Chevy flexplate, provided you are building an internally blaanced motor. Just be sure it has the bolt-pattern to match your converter. Most of them have dual bolt patterns to fit all of the GM style converters.

Something to be aware of....you put a 168 tooth flexplate on your car...what brand starter have you been looking at?

I bought the smallest starter Summit Racing had...6.5 lbs, dinky little thing...barely fits still.

I bought this one.

That is the smallest one they had one display. It barely fit though...Kook's headers really got in the way.

I was surprised that this 6.5 lb. unit only weighed a couple of pounds less than my stock starter.
