no. i had a towel folder over itself to catch the fluid, and everythings connected back to where i took it from. its just weird that it dies when the maf is plugged in, but revs up when the maf is unplugged. any other opinions?

Check the pins in the MAF harness connector for damage.

Check to make sure you didn't fold the rubber elbow under when you tried to slide it back on the throttle body, or tear it, creating a huge gap and allowing air to bypass the MAF.

well. thank you injuneer, i have a vacuum leak where the elbow meets the TB, and thats what was casing it, sadly i had to put everything back together to find this out, so all that work was done for no reason... so ill be doing it all over again once i get the elbow problem worked out.

make sure the bottom of the intake elbow where it meets the throttle body is not folded over, i had a terrible time getting mine on and had to spray it with white lithium grease and work it on with a screw driver

no rubber folded over checked multiple times... and clamps are on and theres a perfect seal... talked to a friend and said it could be my maf because of these symptoms im having with the car:
with maf plugged in-car starts at about 1500 rpm and dies down within a couple seconds, and the engine shakes horribly, and for the 5-10 seconds the engine was running, the exhaust smells nasty, it was so bad i saw my breath when i got out from turning of the car.
with maf unplugged- car starts at around 2000 rpm, slowly creeps up to 2300, then back down to 2000 and idles there, exhaust still smells, and when i cut off the engine, it has the same shake as with the maf plugged in...

solutions??

it kinda seems odd that you maf all of a sudded took a sh.t but it is acting like that, or a massive vacuum leak. i would sooner believe you have a vacuum leak can you hear a sucking noise under the hood

Fix or replace the intake elbow. Do you have a resonator...did you put it back?
