Urgent! - Flywheel Pulley Removal!

I posted this as well in my other opti thread, but just I thought id start a new post...

Right now i have the 3 bolts off the flywheel pulley... and im stuck at getting the pully off! how do i get it off without a pulley remover? I don't have one of those
Instructions I read said it helps to have one but isn't needed. how can i get that sucker off without a pulley remover?

Do i need to remove the bolt in the Center as well?

The cars up in the air and I'm trying to get the car up and running by the end of the day. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Damper/pulley.

When the car was new, removing the three bolts would have allowed the pulley to fall off the hub. 9 years of rust has made the job of removing it more difficult. Soak it good with a good penetrating oil like PB Blaster. Try tapping on the inner ring of the pulley with a hammer. Try putting some leverage against the back of the inner pulley ring. One or both of those might help loosen it. Avoid hitting or prying on the outer edge of the pulley, as you can damage the edges of the pulley or damage the rubber ring that connects the inner and outer rings.

i had the same problem. i used a puller from autozone that they rent and it came right off. the puller is not for an lt1 i think it was for a chrysler but it worked great. any decent 3 jaw puller should work. good luck

What they said. Go rent one, or buy one, they're not $15 for a cheap one that will get the job done. I use a large 2 claw puller, I think its easier, since I dont have a 3 claw that will fit my ASP balancer.

flywheel bolts come loose with hand tools really easily if you use a box end wrench the correct size, seat it flush on the bolt head, and hit the wrench with a good sized hammer

LOL, you do realize that this was someone elses post and that this is the lt1 engine tech forum, right?

either way, use the method that dave mentioned or use a breaker bar in place of the wrench and tap with the hammer. i personally like to use air tools to break those bad boys loose.

oh, and btw- not all ls1's are untouchable...

You obviously posted this on the wrong forum... might want to put it on "LS1 Engine Tech". Generally best to start a new thread, rather than hijacking another thread with an unrelated subject.

Locking.
