Upper Intake Cooler

For the life of me, I cant remember who makes the strap-on intake plenum cooler that can be left on while driving. I saw it in a magazine i belive and it is made of some special heat resistant material so it can be left on while running the car at the track.

Anyone heard of this thing?

Please help.

Have the bottom of the intake coated with a heat dispersant coating and that is about the best you can do.That cooler,if it's the one I am thinking about will thaw in about a minute and then have to be refroze.

You could be thinking of the one in the Jan. 2005 issue of GMHTP. It is called the racing cooler. It retails for 169 and it says its for the 98 up ls1. I suppose the aluminum intake we have will make the cooler work harder than the composite plastic intakes of the ls1.. Nevermind, I tried there website. Click the link and see for yourself. http://www.racingcoolers.com/cftc.html

Any hardware store should carry the 3/8" barb coupling.

What year are you doing the TB bypass on? 93/94 need this barb fitting, 95+ just connect the steam pipe to the drivers side hose off the TB

Re: Upper Intake Cooler

Sweet. Thank god someone remembered!! Thank you for the link. I was trying to find all of my old issues of HOT ROD .. couldnt find the article.

My car is a 94 so I DO need the coupling... so its a 3/8" Barb Coupling.. got it.

I wonder if DRY ICE would be good in that bag...I just love the fact that you can LEAVE IT ON.. during the run.

Good 'ol kevlar.

Ive got acess to Liquid Nitrogen.... I wonder what kind of container could hold that stuff in the bag.

Thanks for the input fellas.
