Question Upgrading cam-Can i get bye with--??

Hello, If my wife sezs ok I want to upgrade my CC-501 to either the CC-502 or the Hotcam. I already have the harden pushrods etc installed. Can i just replace the cam without having to upgrade anything else, like will the lift be to much for the pushrods,springs-I got most of the stuff as part of a LT-1 package. What stuff i got is in my sig. Thanks for your advice/opinions-Dwayne

It really depends on what type of springs you have and what lift they are good to. I just put in a 224/230 and it is awesome. I have the EX 612 springs that are good to .600 lift I believe. Out of those choices you have though I say go with AT LEAST the hotcam because it is such a lot of work to go with something small and then have to replace it again kinda like you are doing now.

Good point, if your going to go throught allthe work to change a cam, go for one that will yield more results.

Thanks for the replies, just got back from work--The LT-1 package i got from Racenet had springs I "Think" good for around .550--Yeah i know its trouble and should have gone bigger--Not to big, i hear the CC-502 is a little bigger than the Hotcam on the lift--so do you guys think i can get by with just a cam swap alone? Thanks again Dwayne

I saw at least switcht he springs too...even if you don't "need" it the freshening up couldn't hurt...but I'm the kind of person I don't like pushing limits of my parts because if something happens its expensive...helped a friend do a motor rebuild, we had it balanced blueprinted to 7000rpm, knowing we would only rev it 6000 rpm...needless to say it was built right, and he put 140k on it and still going...that was damn near 6 years ago now...moral to story, get better springs, you break a spring you'll be sorry...
