Update new cam only lt1 times

Went to NPR on Friday night. The air was good(-800ft) but the track was cold. My 60fts were off .05 but i did manage a new best 11.273 at 118.90. My raceweight was 3325. Our track will be closed till Jan 4. I am hopeful that with tuning that i can run low 20's or teens. Frank95z

Thanks simple. No I went to the track alone. there were a couple of guys there that post on LS1tech but i don't know if they were videoing. I made 5 runs and the worse was 11.33. The car was spinning but consistantly. Frank95z

Awesome times Frank. It looks like you finally retired that baby cam.
For a refresher, what was your best time with the 104227?

Re: Update new cam only lt1 times

you should look into an in car mounted video camera (roll bar mount). it'll only add about ~8lbs too the vehicle

Time for a little weight reduction so you can put that thing in the 10s. Great job.

Re: Update new cam only lt1 times

true dual my best time with the 227 is 11.40 116.59 but that was with the car about 100#s lighter and -1800 air. 97bow tie I believe with tuning,3100#s and good weather 10's are possible joess I had my headers off to be recoated and decided to remove the heads last year(to look them over and change springs). I had a stock valve job on them, changed valve seals, changed springs,no porting, no tricks,no milling.Total cost $90 and springs. I had them flowed at thunder racing and they didn't even flow average. They flowed 195cfm. I put them back on because at the time thats all that i had. Now when I put on some ported heads I'll be glad to offer these historic heads for sale. If there is any interest in these heads e-mail me Frank95z

Awesome times!!! Seems as though we have another Joe O. cammed car that hauls...how big is the cam? Mine is only a 22X/23X but I've been thinkin about going a little bigger....And we are putting the Kooks stepped in place of my shorties to try for 11.20s looking stock...Again, good times, congrats..

Re: Update new cam only lt1 times

Flying Z I run 3.73 gears/27x11.5x15 QTPs/and a Vig3200. My usual 60fts are low 1.50's and in good weather high 1.40's. ABA383 Joe and I really planned this cam with ported heads in mine. I told Joe some of my thoughts on cams and he shared some of his. Thats whats so cool about a custom grind. Mine is larger than yours. Now with that said i believe that if someone would call Joe and asked for a cam just like mine(Lets call it a Joe O /Frank B cam) ,install it right, and tune it like mine they should be able to outrun most of the off shelf cams. One other note I run stock injectors also Frank95z

Re: Update new cam only lt1 times

Yeah Frank you are movin'...I talked to Joe about what I wanted for a good street/strip cam. I wanted to stay somewhat small because I drive this thing everywhere. Plus I was coming from an LPE 211/219 cam so anything would be "bigger"...Anyway, this winter I'm going to the stepped Kooks in place of my LPE shorties with the ultimate goal of going 10.90s with a stock looking car (16x8 wheels all around..etc..). I think I'll get 1-2 tenths on the headers and a re tune from PCMforless, but it looks as though a little bit bigger cam is in order for the 10s. Everyone's telling me to do the Bogarts/slicks combo with the headers and it'll probably be close, but I'm hard headed and like the sleeper look...

Have you talked to Joe recently? I posted on his forum and been trying to call him with no luck...Hope everything's ok....Again, congrats with your car...

ABA383 I haven't had any luck getting in touch with joe in the last couple of weeks. I suppose his transport company is busy at this time of the year. I did reach his voice mail a couple of times. Frank95z
