Unknown intake tube

Not sure if this is where this goes, still trying to figure this forum out. Alright this is on a 96 Camaro SS. If you look at the intake elbow about an inch from the MAF there is a small maybe 1/8 in tube coming out he elbow heading down to the motor. I'm not sure what it is but there is a factory "bung" where it plugs into the elbow. My friend has had a few ss' and z28's and he said it looked rigged up to him, until he saw the factory plugin. I can get a pic if it helps but i wanted to know what it was before i put my vortec elbow on and eliminated it. Any help will be appreciated.

Likely the filtered air supply for the optispark vent system. Don't eliminate it.

i kinda thought that was what it was as well. would it hurt it to move it to another part of the intake tube?

The air supply to the Opti should come from a location AFTER the MAF sensor. That air ends up in the combustion process. If you want to make the tube less visible, relocate it to the bottom of the elbow.

The only reason i ask is because i oredered a throttle body and a intake elbow to put on the car. From the pics though it doesn't look like the elboe has a place to put the hose. but i figure i can always drill a hole and put a bushing for the hose in the elbow.
