Underdrive pullies worth it or not

At first i was against underdrive pullys because it will make the other parts not work as well but now im not so sure what are your opinions.

They are worth it if your looking to wring EVERY last drop of pwer out of your engine with out going high dollar. I have never used them for the simple fact that iv'e always had a large audio system in all of my cars and did'nt want to starve the batteries for power. If your not too woried about what I was, go for it. Mike

The waterpump isn't belt driven, and that is where the underdrive pulleys make alot of power, so they don't gain that much on LT1's.

I got March Pullies brand new for free from a friend. Thats why I put them on. If I had to pay for them I probably wouldn't have got um. 94m5 is right, if you got a high powered sound system you definately dont want one.

You'll only get a max of like 4hp outta them anyway.

I was looking in a Jegs (or was it summit?) cataloge yesterday, and I see where March offers a pully setup that has the reduction of speed effect, but not for the alternator, whose speed is actually increased to maintain power to, well.. everything.

If you ever were to get a pully system, that is the kind to get because you want to conserve your power.

Of course, the main reason to do one on an LT1 is for cosmetics, since the water pump isn't "in the loop" anyway.
