um help

I took my car out of storage today and was going through and changing the fluids , when I got to the cooling system I started pouring the fluid in and noticed as fast as I poured it in it came right out the drivers side of the block through a hole that is supposed to have plug in it. my question is how would this thing come out (it wasn't an issue when I parked it) , what is this plug called, where can I get one and how difficult is it going to be to put it back in

Freeze plug most likely. It means you probably did not have an adequate mix of antifreeze in the engine when you parked it. The water froze and pushed the plug out. Hopefully you did not crack the block as well.
Difficulty in replacing it will depend on where it is and how much room there is.

If not the freeze plug, it is the block drain plug (LH side of block). This is the plug you remove to drain the block. Either someone forgot to put it back in or it came out by itself. How tlhat might have happened, I haven;t a clue. Maybe when you put it in storage someone took it out for protection, unless by "storage" you didn't mean professional storage. JMHO

BTW: Freeze plugs press in or installed with a mallet. Drain plugs screw in. The Drain plug on the Lt1 block in on the LH side. Where the other drain plug would be is where the knock sensor is on the oposite side ( RH side)--------Courtesy of Shoe's wunderbar site.
