Ultrasonic Injector Cleaning?

So I found this Ultrasonic cleaner: http://www.oneclickmx.com/Haier-HU78...aner at 42KHz.

Woohoo. So if I wanted to clean my injector with these at some point after I get a new fuel pump, how would I do it? What solvent would I use? Do the injectors need to be completely submerged, or is that bad? Can I apply just 12v across them while they are in the US cleaner and cycle them that way? What's the story here, guys? Thanks!

Take a look at this post.

He apparently only comes here to advertise his system.... not sure why we don't make him become a Supporting Vender.

Re: Ultrasonic Injector Cleaning?

What is actually done at a real injector service is they are hooked up to pressure and cycled on and off while cleaner is run through them.

It all depends on how much trouble you want to go through.

As far as the cleaner is concerned. We use this in our shop and a friend uses it in their shop.

It works great. Use it with water so it's inexpensive. It will not harm anything, at least nothing we put in it.

I say you throw them in there for a few hours and see what happens. It may be a good idea to look at the spray pattern before and after you clean them.

Incidentally. The unit you are looking at is nice but, it does not heat up. We use this one from harbor freight. http://www.harborfreight.com/25-lite...ner-95563.html

For $20 more you get a heat cycle as well.

Good to know--I'll go with the heat! Thanks guys. I read one post where they stated specifically not to let the entire injector get submerged. Is that true? Something about being bad for the electrical part of the injector? I had no idea what they were talking about, so I took it with a grain of salt.

Yes ranger, I was thinking of doing that after the ultrasonic cleaning. Maybe overkill, but I don't want to mess around with it twice.

Re: Ultrasonic Injector Cleaning?

Cut the bottom off a box that fits in the tank and poke 8 holes in it so the bottom of the injectors are submerged but the tops aren't.

Don't forget to check the spray pattern before you clean them.

With regard to the injector and possibly saving them if they are spraying poorly. My shop uses this for several cleaning jobs.

I use denatured alcohol from Lowes in it and have had 0% problems from it. Doesn't even harm the foam rubber seals on some of the carburetors we put in it.

My friends shop uses the same ultrasonic cleaner with water and this. http://www.harborfreight.com/6-oz-ul...der-91593.html
Keeping the cost way down.

To me it makes more sense to buy this for $70 and try cleaning them yourself. Then to pay $25 per injector.

You have to identify which cylinders are dead before you go doing anything else.
Just my $.02
It seems that before you do anything, you must be told several times. All this "theoretical" discussion. You ignore what people tell you and then eventually you come to an "ah hah" moment. I don't get it.

I still don't see why you want to clean the injectors? Why wouldn't you merely lift the fuel rails and see what the pattern looks like on all the injectors?

Why are changing the fuel pump? Cause of a pressure issue? I highly doubt it's the cause of the pressure issue.
If you restrict the return line and pressure goes UP you know it's not a fuel pump issue.

Re: Ultrasonic Injector Cleaning?

Lol, several things my friend:

I was NEVER told the pump was not the problem. The only thing I was told to do was check the pressure with the vacuum line off, which I WILL do before even thinking about ordering a new pump. However, you do make a valid point about the return line. It should be noted however that even over time, pressure does not fall, so if you are referring to a possible leak, that is somewhat unlikely. It holds pressure fine, but it ISN'T building enough up.

Secondly, I respect where you are coming from, but I merely ask these theoretical questions for my OWN personal knowledge. I have no plan on cleaning the fuel injectors any time soon, as a matter a fact. :P BUT, I do want to know how to for the future or in the event it becomes necessary to do so. I'm not really interested in asking questions as I need to, I ask them whenever they fly into my head. Same story with the question I asked about long tube headers and O2 compatibility. I have no intention of doing that anytime soon, but I thought of it that day. If you read my first post, you'll see what I mean. But I do appreciate both the concern and extraordinary help! A year ago I had never even touched a oil filter on a car!

Re: Ultrasonic Injector Cleaning?

I used these guys a few years back to clean mine and they did a great job. The turn around time was amazing as I shipped them off on Monday and had them back on Friday. The injectors came back looking brand new and their flow sheet was nice to see a compairson of before and after for each injector.
