wzup people at the end of the month I'm moving up from 94 v6 to a 98 or newer v8 my question is stick or automatic I can drive both but what's the pros and cons...? I know sticks are faster off the line but I never see anybody burning out or spinning tires (clowning ) in a 6 speed I always hear of people getting tired of driving a 6 speed.. so what do you think...?

personally, i think the 6speed is a blast to drive. i have both, so i can tell you the differnce. I have a centerforce DF clutch, and it is not bad at all for stop and go traffic

 

Go with the 6-speed. IMHO manuals make the driving expierence. Control, feel, and skill are what driving's all about.

I concur.

Autos are better for drag racing. They're more consistant, easier to launch, and its damn near impossible to miss a shift.

But if your looking for something fun to drive, a highway (Nascar start - booo!) battler, or a auto-x/road race car, manuals the way to go.

 

6 speed is more fun to drive, and also more work
Since i am lazy (and have a bum left knee) I got a a4, but if you want a 6 speed get one, if you want the a4 get it

Yeah auto's are better for drag racing. So really it just depends on what your getting the car for. Auto's are also a lot easier for traffic. But i have to deal with traffic everyday from work and i decided to go with a m6 just because i find driveing auto cars to be a little boring. I like the feeling of having full control of the car. I feel that a sports car should be a manual. But sometimes an auto is a lot easier(while i'm in traffic for a while i'm thinking to myself, "Damn i should of got a auto"). But then while i'm driveing fast banging through those gears i totally forget about the traffic.

 

Well, I have had both and have differing views. I had a 1997 30th SS with a 6speed. Absolutely loved the car with the stick. If autoX or road racing is what you are into, definately go this route. There is nothing like banging the gears while zipping onto a highway, or just the control of the car.

Now I have a 1994 TA with an auto. I really like the way this car feels also. I am becoming more interested in drag-racing, hence the auto. The auto will pull just as hard and you don't have to worry about missing a gear. If you drive in a lot of traffic, the auto is much less of a hassle. But a major drawback with the auto, is when it goes out it is expensive to rebuild.
Good luck, and either way the car you choose will still be a f-body, so it can't be bad at all.

 

Think of it a lil like this. Between getting the auto and the T-56, if you plan on putting on some go fast goodies, the T-56 will stay in good condition w/o having to replace too many parts when your pulling higher numbers. The T-56 is supposed to hold upto 450 ft/lbs o TQ. All you'd have to do is replace the clutch, whoopty whew!! The auto will DEFFINENTLY go out even if the car is stock, MINE DID! I had a BONE STOCK(Same air filter that came from the factory!) 96 LT1 Z A4, I did ONE brake torque/take off, and that damn thing tore 3rd out of itself!

BUT! It's all personal prefernce, get whatever you want!

 

Autos are better for "bracket racing." Wanna have fun at the track? Go with a six speed and bang some gears.

It's just as easy to run good numbers with a six speed. If you have any skill.

 

stock for stock yes...
and the extra loss in the drivetrain of an automatic makes up for the SMALL difference between professional driving and mathematical PROFECTION

however... autos have more potential...

a stalled, shift kitted auto that can chirp 3rd gear (stock ) will spank even the BEST m6 driver
