Angry Uhm. What did i order? WTF?

Ok so im buying parts for the 355 buildup. I did all this research on the oil pump, I wanted to go with the standard replacement pump with the white spring. I got the correct spring it appears, but i some how seemed to have fouled up the oil pump.

The invoice on the box says the PN is 12555884
The actual part number on teh casting is 12555281

Is this the right part or what?

How the hell did i mess that up? I coulda sworn i got the numbers right off shoebox's page.

Lame

Casting numbers do not always equate to the part number. (actually, most often, they don't)

Ok well would the pump with the part number 12555884 be the right one for my LT1?

Thanks again

You didn't get that p/n from my site. The one I have listed is 12555283 (now 93442037), which is the later model stock pump with ¾" inlet. I don't know what the one you have is. I don't see that number in the parts book anywhere.

Re: Uhm. What did i order? WTF?

If you go to gmpartsdirect.com and browse for small block oil pumps under small block chevys. You will find the pump. It says its for Z/28 LT1, im assuming thats how i even ended up ordering the pump in the first place, instead of just using your part #. Funny thing is, I ordered the white spring and recieved that ok, but when i look at the pump that i got, i can almost see white paint on the spring that is already inside.

Heres how the part description reads from gmpd.com

12555884 Oil Pump
Production high-pressure Z-28/LT-1 oil pump with 1.20" gears. Will produce 60-70 psi oil pressure.

It says 60-70 psi, isnt this right around what your pump (12555283) with the white spring is supposed to produce? Could this just be the same pump with the white spring already installed? The price on the pump that i somehow ordered (12555884) is $55.00 from gmpd and the price of your pump is $60.00

Re: Uhm. What did i order? WTF?

Your quote says "LT-1" not LT1. LT-1 is the original SBC Z28 engine, not the LT1 in the 4th gens. That may be the misunderstanding. That pump may work, but I am not positive.
