Uh oh! Oil!
Uh oh! Oil!
I pulled my car out of the garage after a week of not driving it and noticed a small patch of fresh oil that had dripped onto the floor. I checked the filter and plug and they were clean -- thought maybe I hadn't put them back on right about a month ago when I did an oil change.
Then I noticed that the oil pan on the side towards the transmission had oil smeared all over it and I guess this is where it was dripping from. I'm thinking it's gotta be the oil pan gasket now... does it sound like it? How much does a new gasket run and how hard is it to install?
Thanks

I checked it some more... the oil seems to have dripped down the oil pan and the flat, circular, black plate between the pan and the tranny... all over 1/2 of the oil pan too. Local shop gave me a $380 estimate for the oil pan gasket. I don't even want to know what the main gasket would cost!
I just checked the dipstick on a flat surface and on a cold engine, it's a bit above operating limit! Could this cause it to leak? Could this have damaged anything and will this go away if I drain some oil out?
I hope it's just because I've got too much oil! Can anyone confirm this possibility? At best, I hope it's the intake manifold gasket (would give me a reason to take it apart and throw a new cam and LT4 intake) After I parked it a while ago, I noticed a few drops a few days later... I then drove it around 20 minutes like 4 days later and noticed more drops the next day... then I just left it there. However, I can't really look behind the intake manifold that well. Any tips on doing this?
Thanks
Thanks
