Ugh! Should I just replace it??

Ok... I think I'm going to just go ahead and replace my opti. My car has trouble starting (just cranks) but only ever is moist weather (i.e. after/during rain, foggy etc) That HAS to be the opti! Because of this my battery died! And I'm going to fry my starter motor if I don't do something fast! Plus my clutch saftey switch is being touchy.. not opti related but added to my frustration...

This starting problem is ONLY (and it's been going on for around 8 months I'd say..) is moist weather...

Should I just go ahead and replace the opti? I know it's being kind of ignorant to just go ahead and do it without any actual proof... but what else could it honestly be?? Opti is the only water/vapour sesitive thing to that degree, right? Sorry for ranting and thanks!

There is 110 thousand kilometers on the car... so thats about 70 thousand miles. I don't know when the plugs and wires were last changed... but the plugs I good, I know that. I checked them along with my shop teacher, and we both agreed they have about 40K kilometers on them.

The wires I don't know... they look stock to be honest but I can't say anything for sure.

I don't know what to do.. this is just going to lead to a new battery, starter motor and who knows what else... what should I do??

If it helps at all... my opti seems to be covered in engine oil. Might not mean anything but you never know..

If you need any info I'm leaving out.. just ask... thanks!

Try cleaning your ground lug on the passenger side strut tower. IT only takes a few minutes.

Could be the fuel pump.

Fuel pump? In moist weather only? I don't get it..

Thats what makes me think it's the opti. Just happend one rainy day... but two people have already said that they have the same problem and they replaced the opti and nothing changed.

I don't know what to do..

did you try cleaning the ground lug? It only take 5 min to do, really. I would seroiusly try that, search it out and you will find it has solved the "hard moist start" for a few people.

I honestly dont see it being the opti since the holes on the nonvented ones are super small and on the bottom of the opti, which is behind the wp, under the hood, covered on both sides... well you get it.

Fuel pump? Hmmm... sounds like a no on this one, unless it was getto rigged by someone else who put its ground on the passenger side strut tower

It really sounds like an electrical problem to me (your probably thinkin duh) so just keep looking. Try cleaning all the electrical connections you can, like the starter, batt., etc.

If opti is covered in oil it has probably gotten inside it too and now it wont fire the plugs.Check your wires very carefully, also coil and ignition module and ground wires to the left of thecoil>Good Luck

I've cleaned just about all the grounds and such I can find and my car still does it.
