I passed smog at a Test only center in Hayward on my setup. 230/236 cam with LE Heads. No problem during the smog portion but he was being picky with the headers so I had to show him the AIR sticker.

I was also on the stock tune...I think I could've gone bigger and still passed. Ever since they rolled out the dyno smog its become easier to pass with a bigger cam. I don't have the smog sheet in front of me but while on the dyno the car was barely putting out any smog...I had lots of leeway. No I wish I would've gone with an LE3 cam...damned it.

I thought the same as you. My eyes would start to tear standing behind my exhaust thinking the 230/236 112LSA would fail. Until I had no choice but to get it smogged...it passed. You never know until you try, but I'm not saying risk it either...even though I did. The Smog guy failed me the first time after he saw I had aftermarket headers and the SMOG was clean. I had to come back 30 minutes later with a CARB or whatever number which he verified by phone. So I did SMOG twice but only paid the tax the second time. What a bunch of BS but I was happy just to get the cert and get my car registered. I avoided registration for over a year because I was scared my car would not pass...what a waste of time being scared.
