tuning for a hotcam
tuning for a hotcam
I've done it, I ordered a HotCam for the new LT1 in the garage, the only thing I'm concerned with is where do I go to get it dyno tuned in my area...and who reprograms the pcm's? I was told about PCMFORLESS.COM but I can't seem to find anyone willing to give me the dish on how well this process will work. I also need to find an LT4 KM and I'm not having much luck...some care to lend me a hand!?
Thanks
Thanks
I highly recommend www.pcmforless.com. I think they may even out in the LT4 knock module.
Another vote for Bryan from pcmforless.com. He is a great guy to work with and has great customer service. As far as performance gains, after the hotcam kit swap with the mods in my sig, the car felt faster, but not to much really. I brought it to the track and it only went 13.72@103. Two weeks later I was back and had Bryans tunning done. I also get the lt4 km and a 160 degree stat. That day the weather was prime, but the car ran 13.16@107. There was night and day difference. Also, my mpg increased quite a bit. Good luck and enjoy your new cam.

The best way to tune WOT is on a dyno. Might want to start by looking here http://www.dynojet.com/ldynocntr.shtml Find a center closest to you and ask if they can dyno tune your car.
If you want to improve your throttle response, fuel economy, and other part throttle aspects you still need a tuned PCM. If you have the time and interest you can do this yourself (it's more involved than pressing a few buttons however) or contact someone like PCMforless. Since the HotCam is such a common upgrade I think most reputable PCM tuning shops have got it nailed pretty good for a mailorder tune. You will have to send the PCM in to them. If you have the means to repgrogram your own car I believe PCMforless can also email you a tune for you to upload.
The easiest is having PCMforless tune it. If the chance or money arises it may be worth the extra $$ to hop on the dyno for some WOT tuing for those last few horse.
