Tuning a 93 LT1

Since 93 LT1s are ECM and unable to use LT1 Edit or TunerCat how would I go about tuning an engine I plan on building down the road. Is it possible and realistic to take the wireling harness and PCM from a 94+ LT1 and put that in place?

Don't waste your time putting in different wiring for 94 Later, you won't gain a thing, you will loose some going to the OBD1 software then your standard OBD that is in there now, it is much more lenient to do modifications, and you can get rid of emissions easily with no problems.

contact Alvin @ www.pcmforless.com
and tell him that Paul sent you, he will burn you a chip that is a piggy back style that you plug your stock chip into , and it will definintely be worth your while, and not too bad on your wallet. He does a good job , and if you ever need anything adjusted for the first six months he does it for no charge, can't beat that.
All he will need to know is the specs on the motorwork you plan on doing, what for fuel you are using such as pump and injectors.. the basics, plus whatever mods you will have on. He will explain it to you.

If you have the time and are willing to learn, programming chips for a 93 is not difficult in any way. And there is no way that any mail order chip is going to do better than what you can do.
The VE tables in the 93's is what controls all of your part throttle fueling, and there is an excellent software that was written by Joe Georger that takes datamaster datalogs and automatically adjusts your ve tables. I'd couldn't be any more simple.
I'm always willing to help people that are wanting to do the 93's as I know there are many people that are doing it.

What equipment is needed? Is it worth the time & expense to do one vehicle?

You can find a ton of info by doing a search in the computer/diagnostics forum.
Simply put, you need a tuning software such as tunercat, a datalogger such as datamaster, an adapter that allows you to plug your new chip into the stock ECM, an Amtel 29C256 chip (or 3), and a chip programmer.

Whether or not it's worth it for the cost is up to you. If it's a stock car we're talking about the stock programming is not that bad. A heads/cam car this stuff is an absolute necessity IMHO.
I just did a chip for a guy the other day and he said the difference is night and day, and that car is a stock bottom end w/ 230/236 cam and Lloyd Elliott heads.
My buddies 396 runs soooo much better after I did some chips for it that it's unreal. Major change in the cars behavior.
If you've got the time and the ambition, go for it!
