Tuneup time...what brands to get for everything?

I'm changing plugs, wires, fuel filter, and possibly coil. I have a CAI so no need for the filter. If I missed anything let me know. I just need to know what everyone is using for everything. I looked at the MSD Blaster coil for $50 bucks. Should I even bother with this? Also MSD has those Helicoil plug wires. Are they any good? I figure I'll just get a replacement filter so that's no biggie. What about plugs? Should I go AC Delco or go with something else? No plans on running NO2 for atleast the next year so that's not a concern. I have an AutoZone gift certificate for my tuneup that I got for Xmas, so I'm kinda limited to things they sell. Thanks in advance.

Anyone yet? I'm looking on their website plus I'm getting ready to take off and go into town. I planned on stopping to pick the stuff up while I'm there. Thanks

Well I'd get delco plugs & the MSD wires.
Get a PCV valve while your at it.

I assume you have an LT1 car? I went with the MSD Blaster coil and MSD wires, Delco plugs, a new opti and my '95 runs great. You don't list the mileage but it is usually recommended you do the opti change with your tuneup. Better now than later since you (or someone) will have that part of the car apart anyway and it will more than likely fail.

I apologize for the lack of info. Yes it's an LT1 with about 110,000 on the clock. Ok so I have the delco plugs with the MSD wires I mentioned. Would just a replacement coil suffice or should I get the blaster coil? There is about a 30 dollar difference in price in favor of a direct replacment. Also a PVC valve is something good to get? Out of curiosity what exactly does it do? I'm going to hold off on the opti replacement. I know it might go sometime soon but I don't have the cash for it at the moment so I'll just wait. The car wouldn't run unless it worked right? Thanks for all the info. More opinions please.

The stock coil is fine to ~600 horsepower. I wouldnt worry about it. Direct replacement is fine.

No need to replace the stock coil if your car's running fine. I'd stick with the AC Delco platinum plugs; I tried a set of Bosch platinum when my car was stock and it ran like crap. I haven't had good luck with MSD wires; I've had the boots breakdown on me. I'd stick with stock Delco wires or I've had very good luck with Accel 9000 wires. The PCV is a metal valve that controls the flow of gas fumes from your lifter valley to the intake. It's located on the driver's side of the intake manifold. Cheap part to replace...usually if it still rattles when you shake it, it's still good.

WTF, replace your opti and coil at tune up time I would definitely not replace the opti unless it acted up, it's kinda pricey. As for the coil, unless your chasing down an ignition problem or upgrading to a hotter coil leave it alone too.

Since the tune up is a true **********er to do, I recommend the ACdelco platinum plugs, they last a long time so you won't have to bust your knuckles up anytime soon. Plus they work well.
