tuner question for 97 z28.

in another post i asked you guys to suggest what you would get with $1500 for your car. i think im going with pacesetter LT headers, y-pipe, SLP CAI, new spark plugs/wires, possibly a 100 shot. i obviously need a tune when im done with all of these modifications. if i mail my PCM into a shop and get it tuned do i just remove/ship/install or do i need to get a programer also? Or theres a DYNO shop not far and its $100 for 1 hour. what would you guys do.

thanks.

A mail order tune should be good for the mods you have but if you have a dyno shop so close then I would go with the dyno tune as long as they know what they are doing. If you want to go with a mail order tune then there are two options. 1) Remove your pcm(it's not a chip) send the tuner a list of your mods and they will sent it back to you and just install and go, 2) send them a list of your mods and they will email you the tune and just install the tune with your laptop ( you will need the ALDL cable for this)

You can pay a core fee with some and not have to have the car down while you wait. Just send yours back once the new tuned one arrives. There is a shop close by that does dyno tuning and I others say they are pretty good. Called them and they said I should get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. That told me they have no idea how to tune the LT1. They also figured it would be 3 or more hours to dial it in and a mail or email tune is so much cheaper and better in my opinion.
