Re: Trying to get parts on GMPARTSDIRECT
GMPARTSDIRECT lost my business a loooong time ago.
They have no phone number, no follow-up, no service. If price is everything, then your options are not limited.
Do yourself a favor, look elsewhere, spend the extra money, get the one-to-one service you deserve, a known ship/receive date, and a product guarantee that you won't regret.
Also, it is a benefit to all of us if you take advantage of the vendors that advertise with this board. They like us, we like them.

ONE retainer is p/n 10212808
the valve spring # you have is correct, for one spring..
I don't know the p/n for one rocker arm..
To answer your Q the lock is not the same as a stock LT1 you need a poly lock nut and the set screw in it to lock it.. I don't know the p/n for one either..
Jason Cromer beats gmpartsdirect prices, and you get to talk to a human!.. he charges less for the parts and also charges actual shipping.. all I use partsdirect for is a ballpark price guide.. never will order from there.. shipping is wayyyy out of line..
Charlie
Yes you need the steel shim/seat but how would yours be damaged or missing?
One LT4 shim p/n is 10212809 [I found that LT1 shim worked fine with LT4 springs tho..]

GMPARTSDIRECT is not the way to go.
I sent them an email asking about the high shipping prices:
Hi,
I would like to order Part number 25147210, and part number
16214681....It says 9 bucks shipping for the first item, and 7 for the
second...they are both small items and would fit in the same box...is
there any way to adjust shipping since you guys will be sending it to
the same address at the same time?
Thanks,
Keven

Gmpartsdirect.com sells parts at published dealer cost plus a percentage
for a shipping and handling fee. This fee is not UPS charges only. The
shipping and handling pays for the shipping charges plus our other
expenses like web programming, employees, etc.
Another way to explain this is, we are selling you the part near
published dealer cost, the shipping, and handling pays all of our
expenses associated with running the web site. The amount left over
after our expense is our profit. Keep in mind our overall price is a
tremendous savings over retail price and in most cases is even cheaper
than dealer wholesale shipped to your door step, and without leaving the
convenience of the Mouse.
Compare the overall price delivered to your door.
So basically they try to show you a low price on the website to make you think your getting a good buy, but in reality they just zap you with rediculous shipping charges to make up for it.

If you have a friend that works at a dealership, or a dealership parts supplier you can get better deals then even gm parts direct, and pay less or no shipping depending on if you can pick it up. Jason Cromer is def a good guy, i would recomend him if you can't find anybody local.

Re: Trying to get parts on GMPARTSDIRECT
I've probably ordered over $5k worth of stuff from them. Zero shipping problems (they're quite fast actually).
Forget the "shipping prices" crap. Look at the total "at the door" price of your order. It's normally about as low as it gets.
I will say that you must know exactly what you want to order. You won't get any help from them. But if you got a notebook full of part numbers and want a decent overall price then GMPartsDirect ain't bad.
I still can't believe people get riled up about the "shipping cost". Can't you people add up totals?
