Trying to decide on what Catalytic Converter to put on.

OEM Cat with install at a couple places is like 600-900 bucks. Meineke has a Catco with install for about 225. I have to have a cat either way becuase of emissions. I am just tryin to find out from you guys which is the best way to go. Is it worth going universal rather than OEM? To my understanding the universals will allow more airflow but do not last as long as the OEM. I was also looking at the Magnaflow universal cats, but a couple places still said like 250 for install if i bring my own. Doesnt make sense. I am still going to make some calls and see if anyone can just cut the old one off from the Y-pipe and then weld on a new one. Shouldn't it be like an hour job at most? 100 bucks at most? Thanks guys

You might not be able to get your stock one cut off and reused b/c I dont know if shops are alowed to reuse cats due to emissions laws. Its worth a try.

If you cant find someone to install your original cat I will buy it from you. I am in desperate need of a catalytic converter. Dont want to spend big money though because it will only be on the car one day out of the year.

I am using the magnaflow carsound one from ebay. got it for like 60 bucks..and had meineke install it for $90-100..cant remember exactly. makes the car sound much much cleaner..and a little bit louder. definately noticed a power increase over the stock cat...but that could have been becuase my stock cat was old and not functioning perfectly.

That is exactly what I did. ~$60 for the cat at $50 for the install. There is a post detailing all the steps, I'll find it if I have the time

Worked like a charm!!!

Install for a cat at MIDAS here was $50. I paid $35 shipped for a new Carsound off ebay a year or so ago. Now they've gone up in price, but still a good deal.

I wouldn't pay more than $75 for a cat install.

I'm with Madwolf, I bought a Catco for $35 shipped. I never put it on, but it wasnt $225. Install shouldnt be much more than $50 if that.
