True Stock HP numbers
True Stock HP numbers
Does anyone know the real horsepower figures for the LT1 engine? I have a 94 Camaro Z28 with a stock, 44,000 mile LT1, zero modifications to the car. I've seen the stock HP number stated as 275 HP, but both my father and I agree that the car is seriously underrated in horsepower. What is the real figure? Has anybody put the engine on a dyno or gotten a stock Z28 on a chassis dyno? I've only had the car a few months and haven't gotten the opportunity to do the test myself. What is the real story with the horsepower output of this engine?
Re: True Stock HP numbers
well I think the LT1 is still slightly underrated. When you consider that it's rated at 275 hp, then take away the estimated 15-17% drivetrain loss, you would end up with a number in the 225-235 range at the rear wheels. I've never seen one dyno that low stock. I put down 246 rwhp myself stock.
The LS1 on the other hand is severely underrated. It's rated at 305-310 hp but puts almost that much power down at the rear wheels stock
