true reliability of fordged 355?

I'm setting up for a daily driver(in good weather) with decent power and wondering about running forged internals for this application. I'm more focused on pistons. I'm thinking of buying one with JE pistons in it already. I don't want something that will have piston slap and oil consumption, nor do i want it to be a loose setup for less friction aka racing. i need some input or anything i should be aware of. thanx

reliability comes from the competence of the builder, quality balanced parts and the abuse/use of the motor

IMO, forged rotating assemblies arent needed unless the intention is too use nitrous, boost or extended upper rpm

stock (worked) crank can probably be used, nice set of con rods/rod bolts and some lightweight hyper pistons.

well, but here's my deal. i can get a forged with 2k miles on it with good parts for 1200.....or i can order a newly rebuilt stocker from the parts store for 1050...... here's why i am having difficulty deciding.

I wouldn't buy either if it were me. As far as the crank, the stocker should be fine for you. For connecting rods, you could use the stockers but really for the work and money involved in checking them, resizing, and installing ARP bolts you could have a set of Eagle's or Scats for around $200. For Pistons, thats were I would not skimp out, buy some quality forged pistons. SRP, or Mahle are very good candidates, and they shouldn't break the bank either.($500=/-) Get the crank turned, and the assembly balanced....thats way stronger than stock and should handle alot more power as well. As for upgrading further, its really not necessary unless you run big boost, or spray...remember forged parts don't make power.

my whole debate is through piston slap. forged rods, crank, etc don't bother me at all. i just don't want something that will slap all the time to the point where it could hurt something.

I don't think forged pistons will cause piston slap. i have had forged internals in a few engines and never noticed poor reliability or piston slap.
