true duals w/cats = bad idea
I have jet hot longtube headers and was hell bent on doing the dual exhaust with catalytic converters. This made it necessary that the exhaust hung a little lower becasue of the placement of the cats. Well last night i was going down a local crappy road when I hit a big metal object in my lane that I didnt see. I checked it out today and my pipe on the drivers side was pancaked and twisted beyond belief. It basically closed off the exhaust on that side.
Only plus is I gotta run open headers til I get it fixed,
Just thought I would let you guys know about my experience.

ya it definitely would have, the pipe was crushed and pushed all the way up to the floor pan. the piece of metal was pretty big, and it tore a little piece of plastic off my air deflector as well.
Not a bad idea in my opinion - it sounds like they just werent tucked well...
I've got long tubes with dual 3" full sized car sound cats. They dont hang low at all. In fact, the header tubes and flanges are lower than the cats.
During install the drivers floorboard was clearenced a little, but the passengers side cat is in the stock location (orginally a single cat car).
Been rolling on this setup over 2 years - cats have plenty of room..
