True Dual Time

Well I picked my car up from speed inc today.. And let me say, OMG it rocks.

SETUP:

Jet Hot LT's, 12'' 2 1/5" in/out Bullet Mufflers, 2 1/2 inch reducer. 2 1/2 inch turndowns.

Car sounds really MEAN, nothing like before. Not even close. I love it. Its probably too loud for inside the car for most people. But its comparible to what a 3inch cutout would kind of sound like. Car seems alot more responsive, and you can feel the torque increase in just driving. Havent got a chance to open it up. But Im sure I wont be sad lol.

One thing I noticed right away, is that the tempeture of the engine has dropped. I dont know if its from the ceramic coating or because of the increased flow. But my car used to sit around 200-210 in traffic. with the headers on, I havent hit it yet. I am really really happy overall.

Hope to get some pics or sound clips soon.

Well took her out for a spin tonight. Found a nice empty frontage road, that was about a mile straight away. So I opened her up. Wow sounds like a beast. Never heard that sound before out of my car. Sounds like a whole new motor lol.

Then cruising back home, the Service Engine Soon light came on. Is this because I dont have the LT4 KM? Or did I probably burn one of my o2 wires? Ill go check it out in the morning. The shop told me I shouldnt need the KM. But Im wondering if I'm gunna have to get it.

Doubt it's the sensor but you never know. I too just got true duals with jethots to 2.5 highflow cats to 3 inch purple hornies with turndowns before the axle. I know what your talking about as far as WOW . My SES light has come on a few times now. Still working out the bugs but they are in no way related to the system. One was ICM failure(Replaced coil and ICM) and the other is the MAF code. Still workin on that one.

my bro was thinking about getting some of those purple horny mufflers for his car. How do you like the sound? Do they make that crackling noise? Or are they pretty deep, and rumbly?

Do you have the lt4 KM?

I would highly recomend the LT4 KM. Watching my buddies car with a scan master, we scanned the timing retard before and after. What a difference! I also noticed my car ran alot smoother after I installed mine.

Oh and 2 1/2 inch? You should hear dual 3".

lol yea I bet 3 inch would be even more louder lol. I used to love driving my car before. Now I love it 5 times more. Its halarious because anything over 1/4 pedal and you instantly become a center of attention. People break their necks, when they hear me roaring past them lol. I wish I had a big block with the same setup

But Im going to for sure get that KM. Hopefully the local chevy dealer will have it pretty cheap. What year did the vettes have the LT4? Cause I hear they always ask you for the car when searching for a part, even if you have the part number. So would it be 96 grand sport? Just wondering?

Have any of you ever heard a SLP Loud mouth? How does the sound compare? Cause thats pretty loud as it is. I'm willing to go alittle louder, but i don't want to be getting tickets every two minutes.

Well its has a different tone then the loudmouth. This is more deeper, and for some reason because of the true duals, you hear a different sound depending on the rpm. Its hard to exsplain, its like its deep, and loud, but yet it sounds clean. Like there isnt as much poping or back pressure like the borla and loudmouth sound with longtubes.

But inside the car, it is insane with the windows up, around the 1500-2400 rpm range. It sounds like a bass from a loud car audio system with some mean woofers.

If you could get a clip up, that'd be great. when I get my next pay check, and my headers arrive, i'll be makin a true dual system of my own.

Did you make it your self or did you have a shop do it? Either way... are there alot of bends? OR is it possible to cut the H-Pipe to the same exact width as the collectors are apart, and make 2 pipes comin straight back with an H-Pipe... so theres no bending.?? Not sure if i explained that right...

3in and 2.5in sound no different. I have heard mine and a friends side by side. No difference at all. Except he can hardly use 6th gear anymore cause it chokes itself out. Thus the reason i went 2.5in

They harmonize with each other. Something a single pipe setup cant do because they get all jumbled together.

Theres hardly any backpressure and at 1500rpms it cant pull itself. Kinda like riding in 5th gear at 20mph and pressing the gas to the floor. He is getting 4.10's so he shouldnt have that problem anymore. Mine even does it somewhat but nowhere near as bad as his.

OH i see....

Would not having a x or h pipe be bad for flow? Will i really sacrifice that much power/torque?

And does it make a difference how far apart the two pipes are when connecting it with an H-Pipe? (pretty much, does it matter how far apart the -- is in the H?

Yes the shorter the h length is the less restriction its gonna have, Mine is about .5 foot long and slightly bent to help flow. Tons of torque for daily driving yet very good topend. And not having an x-or h pipe really doesnt hurt flow any but it does make a difference in sound. In my experience mine sounded alot better and more refined when I added the h-pipe. It seems to harmonize a little better. Not to mention it wa only $20 to have an h-pipe welded in.
