Hey everyone. My roommate has a 1995 model Z-28. Is there any way to put true dual exhaust on the car? He thinks the single exhaust it has now sounds kind of trashy, plus he wants a more free-flowing exhaust system. Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

 

sure is, my 94Z the exhuast is all stock, but im putting hooker long tube headers, coming back off those with duals, H pipe to connect them, then dynomax bullets, that should sound pretty bad ***, not sure how much money he wants to put into it or the exact sound you want to get out of it, how loud do you want it? yes it can be done, hope this helps

 

It can be done.
I have LTs with purple horny header mufflers on my 94Z.
Ground clearance is the only big issue you may run into, mine hits the mufflers once in a while.

 

Well, most of the time and money is going into the engine, he said he wants a high 10-second car, and I'm sure with that kind of power the exhaust is going to have to be pretty open. When we looked under the car, there wasn't much room where the factory exhaust was routed, it didn't look like there was enough room for two 2½ inch exhaust pipes. Can a person with a hydraulic tubing bender do the bends, or should it be mandrel bent? Some of the bends look a little sharp to do it with a hydraulic bender.

 

Mandrel bends are best but it depends on how he wants to run the exhuast.
Just straight out all you have to do is clear the tranny crossmember which is not too bad of a bend, you can always clearance the tranny crossmember as well.
Now if you want to run the pipes over to the tunnel and then run them out to the axle the bends get more convoluted.
I would reccommend a proffesional pipe bender do the work so you won,t run into problems.
