EDIT: http://www.autoenginuity.com/downloads.shtml <--- their scan tool can be downlaoded "free" - if you have an OBD-2 cable that connects to a serial port allready then you could use it. Also i understand converting an OBD-1 cable to OBD-2 is a simple process (a search in the forum should reveal the answer).

Harbor Freight sells a plug-in OBD-II code (only) reader for $40. Brent Franker tried it and said it worked fine.
