Use a jack on the tranny to level it out. I just installed the whole motor (from intake to oilpan) in from the top without the happy hooker. Just takes some ingenuity.

I tried using the Happy Hooker and my cherry picker kept hitting the front of the car when the motor needed about 5 more inches to the mounts. I'll get some pics of what we did.

Do you mean you can't install the engine with LT's on the engine?

He was saying "its hard enough to install LTs with the motor already in, much less putting them in beforehand."

If you wanted to try you would have to remove the steering linkage. It might be doable, who knows.

I got some longer tubing for my picker(6") and the hooker and have done it several times. I use a ratchet strap on the front to angle it.NO PROBLEMS.When it's clear you can level the engine and tranny with undoing the strap and jacking up on the jack going in. I also made a spreader bar to hook chain's to the exhaust bolt holes to use later to see if it is easer.Takes about an hour to hook it back up to mount's.You have to angle the hell out of it to get it started then use a jack under the tranney.
Won't go in with anything on front of motor.
