trany problems

Im trying to narrow down whats wrong with my a4 tranny. I believe it is slipping. When I hit the gas for a hard run, at the top of first gear it redlines and kinda hangs out there for a few seconds then finally shifts. It does the same at the top of second gear as well.

Is this a slipping tranny? Would installing a shift kit fix the problem? If the tranny needs to be rebuilt is that somthing I can do myself? I seen kits out there that has all the part necessary to rebuild it yourself for $130.

Oh yeah there is only 55k miles on the car

Thanks
Chris

Mine does the same thing on the 2-3 shift only. It works fine until you get a couple of passes down then it starts hanging/studdering on the 2-3 shift.

Trying to figure out if this means new tranny time.

Re: trany problems

I have the same problem with mine...60K miles.

And I would definitely reccomend pro-built! I had a 700R4 from them in one of my other cars and it worked flawlessly. I did just score a good deal on a slightly used FLP Stage 4 so I'm going with that this time. But Dana (owner of pro-bilt) really knows his stuff and is a stand up guy!
