Transmission wiring (m6-a4, 94-96)
Transmission wiring (m6-a4, 94-96)
I need to swap the wiring from a 94 m6 to a 96 4l60e. I have had the computer reprogrammed for the 4l60e and as a 95 year model obd1 so that it can control the PWM solenoid. I have a few questions that I would like to clarify before I hook the new tranny wiring in with the engine wiring.
I am using the plugs from a 96 4l60e tranny to rewire into, so I do not have to deal with the plug harness ends not fitting the tranny.
It looks to me as what GM did on the PWN automatic 4l60e controls was use the reverse lockout solenoid control, is that assumption correct? if so, do i just tap into the wire at the ECM before it goes into the reverse lockout solenoid?
Ok that gets the pwn working so my torque converter will lock up correctly.
NOW, on my 4l60e (its from my 96 fullsize truck), the tranny as labeled in the haynes manual says "fluid pressure (TFP) manual valve position switch. Does this control the use of the 123 labeling on the column? It is labeled in the lt1 haynes as range A, B, and C, but in the truck manual as non numbered. The wires are the same color though, so would I just need to hook them up color coded?
On the 95+ trannys there is an ignition wire present, but it is not in the book for the 94s. I suppose that I need to get an ignition wire to make the tranny work (maybe the tcc solenoid)?
It is ok to leave the fluid temp sensor unplugged, correct> I have no use for this.
The other wires for the TCC, 1-2 shift, 2-3 shift, and 3-2 shift are the same.
Also, the VSS Sensor in the 96 4l60e works on a wire setup that has a signal and a return. The 95 computer pinouts have only wires labeled as a VSS Signal and a VSS ground. what can be done about that? Is the return suppossed to be a ground?
Hopefully this makes sense to someone out there

To the above, I am fairly clear on. Now, I have another dilemma. When we yanked the motor on the tranny there are two more plugs. One has 7 wires in it, while the other has 4. 7 pin has 12ga yellow and purple, 18ga black, pink, green, yellow. 4 pin has 18ga yellow, white, black w/white stripe, and grey. I think they have something to do with the shift indicator lights on the dash, but I am not sure. I had to cut these plugs off completely and need to rewire them into my new harness. Anyone know for sure what these are? Thanks .....
