transmission problems

I would like some suggestions on what the problem could be with my transmission. Can't really describe it in a way it feels as if 2nd gear is slipping, but it also seems as its not even going into 2nd. And to get it to go into 3rd I have to let off the gas. Is it time for a rebuild or could it be something electrical? Please help I'm totally lost on what to do.

mine did the SAME thing buddy, take you pan off, check for sludge, thats the first thing, but it sounds like the band is toast... rebuilding my transmission right now, with heavy duty sungear shell, 5 gear planet and really good clutch packs, some other stuff to probly, anyways check your pan for sludge on the bottom, i bet you have the same problem i did, rebuild it, well actually check your fluid first see how that is, burnt, red, whatever, mine was red and smelled ok but the pan was covered with black sludge, there should only be a little build up on the magnet in a normal transmission so if its all over its time for a rebuild, good luck, let me know how your pan looks... the user PROBUILTAUTOMATICS may be able to help you further, hopefully he sees this post.

you broke the holding pin that holds the band in place very inexpensive part but you have to pull the tranny apart to fix it, i did the exact same thing

yea second gear band grabs the drum and overruns first, so in the band is gone first will still pull until 3rd applies.

a few things to remember you need high pressure, steel pistons i'm running 300+ line pressure and from trial and error we found a good setup.

my tranny guy is actually feature in gm hi-tech perfomance magazine next month. send me a pm if you want his number. he could at least give you some pointers on building a good unit.

how do you adjust the line pressure? pcm right? and also im going to be having some aftermarket parts in my tranny:

HD sungear shell
larger 2-4 band
5 gear planet
red eagle kevlar clutches
covette servo
dont know which TC yet, probly midwest, not sure if it matters for this question

but anyways what line pressure should i be running? do i really even have to mess with it?
