transmission problem???

My car has is an m6, and when I let out the clutch to take off the car shakes a little, just like warped rotors when stopping. Would bad transmission mounts cause this? And how many mounts are there on the transmission, just the one in the back?

The tranny also seem,s to bounce around a bit when the car is mocing. like an inch or so, just enough to notice it.

Any ideas???

Sounds to me like normal manual shake, or else you not letting the clutch out precisely enough for trans to be happy.

I just saw the other part of your post, after i posted, As for the slight bouncing, they should move a little, but your trans mount is getting mushy, maybe its time for a new one.

alright, I will get a new one and see what happens. I know its supposed to move a little, but it moves more than my other car so I wasn't sure

and the vibrating is just like when you take off without giving it enough gas, so maybe I just need to rev it higher?

could it be the clutch going bad?

It could be the clutch starting to go, heres a check, with the car in 6th gear slightly above the point where you would down shift into 5th, stomp the gas, if the tach surges up before the car begins to acclerate, the clutch is starting to slip. If the car bogs down and then begins to acclerate your still ok.

okay, well this kinda sucks in a way, because the engine and tranny are out of the car as of today, so that test is out of the question, but now would be a good time to replace it. I heard that there was another test where you put it in 2nd or 3rd gear while stopped, and dump the clutch. If it just jumps and then stalls it is good, but if it tries to catch and slips then its bad. It did that test just fine so I'm hoping its okay. I will probably just get the tranny mount for now, because its only $15 and the one we took off looks kinda bad.

Thanks for the help

I dont like that test, cause i used it on my car, it stalled, but my clutch was slipping bad. I just wanted to see if the test held true, didnt for me. But with the engine and trans out of the car, looks like both are out of the question for you at this point in time.

How can you tell if a tranny mount is bad, Because i am doing the clutch this weekend and it would be a good idea to change the, at the same time if they need changing.
