Transmission Noise

I just got my car its an week ago its an M6 and when I test drove it I heard a hissing noise when i was in second gear. It didnt sound to bad at the time but when I drove it today it sounds worse. I only hear the noise in 2nd and 6th gear. The car has a hurst shifter and thats it. There is only 52,000 miles on the car. Any ideas are a start thanks for your help.

A hissing noise, Does it change a lot with change in RPMs. If not it most likely throwout bearing related. The car probably had a new clutch in it. It hard to get a new throwout bearing in these cars that is totaly sillent. Do you have and Grinding when you shift gears? If its a just a faint chirping noise that doesnt change much over the RPM range, dont worry about.

Do you get a rattle sound when in neutral w/ the clutch out, then it goes away when the clutch is in? You might also hear this in 1st as well. I've had people tell me it was the throwout bearing, or the pilot bearing, and it was not (replaced both). Its the input shaft bearing into the transmission, one of those things you just ignore until you rebuild it

I have a problem also. I just put in a new slp clutch in my car. Now when the car is in neutral and i let the clutch out it sound like there is something rattleing around inside of my tranny. But when i press the clutch in it goes away. Do you think this could be my throwout bearing? The clutch came with a new throwout bearing and i bought a new pilot bearing when i installed it also. Do you think it could be my input shaft bearing like Auto-Xer said. If so how long would i be able to drive the car like this.
