It is ridiculously easly. Support the tranny, unbolt the crossmember, unbolt the tranny mount, replace, bolt-up the crossmember, and you are finished.

I use an Energy Suspension mount and it is dirt cheap. Some people report vibrations from it, I didn't really notice a change when I did mine.

The 97 (M6s anyway) had some issues for a while with excessive tranny noise when installing the upgraded polyurethane ones from energy suspension. They'll last, but apparently are VERY stiff.

An OEM replacement can be bought at Autozone or somewhere of the likes for < ~$10.

All you need to do to replace it is lift up the rear of the car or put it up on ramps, use a jack to lift the transmission near the mount up, and then just unscrew the tranny mount and put the new one in. When you see the shape of the new mount, ,you'll see right away where it goes on the transmission, the mount is visible without removing anything.

tranny mounts arent that hard and there about 15-30 bucks depending if you want the stock or energy suspension
i have an energy suspension, its alot tougher but my car vibrates at idle so i would stick with the stock one. My friend did it himself u just need to raise up the tranny a little bit to do it.

Use a LS1 mount -- they have a built-in torque limiter so they won't tear like the LT1 mounts, and you won't get the vibrations like you would with the poly. It will run you about $50 though.

after a few months, the urathane(SP) will loosen up, it took me 20 bucks and 20 minutes to change. easy and clean. my consol rattles, and the car vibrates a little, but the shift is way more firm, and you will feel the difference. i think its worth it.
