i have an 94 auto Z, and it now makes a distinct knocking sound occasionally when it shifts...sounds similiar to a door being open then shut...and makes the sound also when i give it a decnt amount of gas, i can also feel the knock through the gear selector and the floor...ne help is appreciated...

 

check your tranny mount 9 times out of 10 its the mount, a really nice polyurethane mount can be had at most auto parts stores for around 20 - 30 bucks, i believe.

 

does neone else kno what this could be, i jus got a new mount no more then a month ago, and the old one was ripped in two, the knocking im gettin now isnt as bad as it was w/ the old one, is it possible its jus ripped...??? how can i check

 

Bought a new one once to relaced the incredibly broken one. Had to replace it again with another within a week because I ripped it. If you GENTLY jack up the tail shaft to lift the tranny you'll see if it's ripped. You won't have to lift the whole car from jacking it this way. Do it GENTLY and watch it as you go.

 

Mine likes to break when pulling out of a driveway(business establishment or other).now I don't let the car bounce off a driveway type of thing.Hope this helps.
