Transmission Bolt Extraction

I'm rebuilding a T-56 and whomever had it open last ruined the two case bolts that hold the shift guide plate to the case. These are a couple of Torx head bolts, one is broken, the other hoplessly stripped and apparently really torqued in there. I'm at the point of attempting to drill them out but so far haven't found a drill bit that even seems to make a dent. Hardest drill bit I can find in town is the Cobalt type and these have hardly made a dent. Aren't there harder drill bits out there, carbide? Where could I get them. Next step if I can't get them out myself is to try and find a machine shop in town that will take them off for me, but I'd like to do this myself. Oh and btw I don't have a welder, and if I did, I don't know how to weld.

Thanks.

Re: Transmission Bolt Extraction

I'm not really familiar with what bolts your are talking about however they sell extraction kits. These are basically a drill bit and a screw with the threads reversed on it. You basically drill the bolt and then just screw in the screw until it bottoms out and then put a wrench on it.
